Love: A Prayer Guide
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to seek Your guidance and strength in understanding and embodying the true essence of love. Help us to love as You love, selflessly and unconditionally. May Your love flow through us, touching the lives of those around us. Show us how to love with actions and truth, not just words. Fill our hearts with compassion, patience, and forgiveness. Lead us in extending grace and mercy to others, just as You have shown these to us. Lord, teach us to prioritize love above all else, knowing that love covers a multitude of sins. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Reflection
"Love: A Prayer Guide" is a short reflection to carry into your day. It speaks directly to the theme of love, and to the ordinary faith we live out day by day. Paul's description of love is read at weddings, but it was written for ordinary community life. Love is patient and kind; it keeps no record of wrongs. This is not a feeling to fall into but a way of living to choose, day after day, especially when it is hard. Read the passage again and replace the word "love" with your own name. Where does it stop being true? Let that be the place you ask God to grow you this week — in patience, in kindness, in letting go of the record you keep. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 again slowly, and let it shape how you live today — in your family, your work, and your church community. A prayer: Lord, you are love, and you have loved me patiently. Teach me to love others the same way — slow to anger, quick to forgive, kind even when it costs me. Amen.
