A Prayer for Forgiveness
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with grateful hearts, seeking Your presence and guidance. We acknowledge that You are the source of all Forgiveness, and we need Your help to walk in Your ways. Lord, we pray for strength to face the challenges of this day. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and grant us wisdom to make decisions that honor You. Help us to be patient, kind, and loving in all our interactions. We lift up those who are struggling, those who are hurting, and those who feel alone. May they experience Your comfort and peace. Use us as instruments of Your love to encourage and support others. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your provision, and Your unfailing love. We trust in Your promises and rest in Your care. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Reflection
"A Prayer for Forgiveness" is a short reflection to carry into your day. It speaks directly to the theme of forgiveness, and to the ordinary faith we live out day by day. Forgiveness is not pretending a wound never happened; it is releasing the right to hold it against someone. Scripture ties our willingness to forgive to our awareness of how much we have been forgiven. People who grasp the size of their own debt tend to cancel the smaller debts of others. Is there a resentment you have been carrying, rehearsing the offence until it feels permanent? Forgiveness is a decision before it is a feeling. Choose today to release one grudge to God, and ask him to heal what it has been protecting. Read Philippians 4:6-7 again slowly, and let it shape how you live today — in your family, your work, and your church community. A prayer: Lord, you have forgiven me far more than I will ever be asked to forgive. Soften my heart toward those who have hurt me, and free me from the weight of holding on. Amen.
