Forgiveness: A Prayer Guide
Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you seeking your guidance and strength to walk in forgiveness. Help us to release the burden of unforgiveness and embrace the freedom that comes from extending grace, just as you have graciously forgiven us. May your love fill our hearts, leading us to forgive others as you have forgiven us. Teach us to let go of bitterness and resentment, and to choose compassion and understanding instead. We surrender our hurts, our pain, and our desire for revenge to you, knowing that true healing comes through forgiveness. Grant us the courage to forgive those who have wronged us and the humility to seek forgiveness from those we have hurt. May your mercy and grace transform our hearts and relationships, bringing restoration and reconciliation. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Forgiveness is not pretending a wound never happened; it is releasing the right to hold it against someone. Scripture ties our willingness to forgive to our awareness of how much we have been forgiven. People who grasp the size of their own debt tend to cancel the smaller debts of others. Is there a resentment you have been carrying, rehearsing the offence until it feels permanent? Forgiveness is a decision before it is a feeling. Choose today to release one grudge to God, and ask him to heal what it has been protecting. Read Colossians 3:13 again slowly, and let it shape how you live today — in your family, your work, and your church community.
